1-Cycolohexyl-3-(1,3-thiazole-2-yl)thiourea is a thiourea derivative. The 1,3-thiazoles are an important group of compounds due to their wide range of applications in biopharma. The thioureas have been described as the most useful class of agents, with a large number of activities including anti-viral properties. The compound is active against HIV-1 and Coxsackievirus B5 (CVB-5) virus.
Microbiology Applications | Antibacterial and antiviral activities.of 22 thiourea derivatives of 1,3-thiazole were evaluated . 1-Cyclohexyl-3-(1,3-thiazole-2-yl)thiourea was the only one showing anti-HIV activity. It also showed activity against Coxsackievirus B5 (CVB-5) virus, with an EC50 of 14 µM. CVB-5 belongs to the Enterovirus genus in the Picornaviridae family of human pathogens)(Stefanska et al, 2015). |
Eukaryotic Cell Culture Applications | 1-Cyclohexyl-3-(1,3-thiazole-2-yl)thiourea was found to be non-cytotoxic to the following cell lines: MT4, MDBK, BHK, and Vero-76 (Stefanska et al, 2015). |
