Artsy Microbes: International Microorganism Day

It’s that time of year again when we get to see the creativity of the very talented scientific community on display for International Microorganism Day and the associated Microbe Art contest.

Vibrant colors, detailed textures, and the educational value of the painting by @letraspinturas showcases the diversity of lichens in the Philippines and highlights their role as bioindicators of environmental health.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is highlighted by this image by Eliza Coli (@eliza_coli). It creatively showcases the importance of combating AMR with cyclopeptides at the infection frontier. It reminds us of the important role microbiology plays in addressing global health challenges.

Or how about a worldly agar art submission by @fb.uner?

We hope you have enjoyed how microbial life has inspired a selection of these winning submissions and how these microbe enthusiasts commemorate the discovery of microorganisms, much like the first time a microbe was seen under the microscope by Dutch scientist Antonie van Leeuwenhoek in 1674.

We invite you to explore our microbiology research products for your next discovery.
