    Paclobutrazol

    $53.50

Paclobutrazol acts as a plant growth inhibitor by preventing the biosynthesis of gibberellin, a plant hormone.

Paclobutrazol was synthesized by researchers at Syngenta (Jealott's Hill, Berkshire, England).

Mechanism of Action Paclobutrazol is a known antagonist of gibberellin, and acts via gibberellin biosynthesis.
    Plant Biology Applications

Paclobutrazol is frequently used to prevent shoot growth in fruit-bearing plants to increase yield and induce early fruitset. Paclobutrazol has also shown help plants resist environmental stress.  It acts as a plant growth retardant and triazole fungicide.
