Butyrolactone V is a saturated dibenzylbutyrolactone lignan isolated from a strain of Aspergillus by Lin and collaborators,
Xiamen University, China in 2009. Butyrolactone V is moderately active against the parasites, Plasmodium falciparum,
Leishmania amazonensis and Schistosoma mansoni. Butyrolactone V is a DPPH radical scavenger and is cytotoxic to selected breast tumor cell lines with low toxicity to normal human fibroblasts.
