Cefpodoxime Proxetil is a broad-spectrum, third-generation, semi-synthetic cephalosporin β-lactam antibiotic. It is an esterified cephem antibiotic that is hydrolyzed and de-esterified in vivo to its active metabolite Cefpodoxime. Cefpodoxime was patened in 1980. The dissolution of Cefpodoxime Proxetil is pH dependent. Cefpodoxime Proxetil is soluble in DMSO.
