Chloramphenicol Succinate

Chloramphenicol Succinate is prepared by acylation of chloramphenicol with succinic anhydride to provide a water soluble pro-drug. Chloramphenicol is released in the presence of succinate dehydrogenase in the human gut.

Chloramphenicol Succinate is soluble in ethanol, methanol, DMF and DMSO.
