    Emodin

    $115.00 - $392.00

Emodin is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor and is a natural anthraquinone derivative found in the roots and rhizomes of multiple plants.  It has anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial and anticancer properties. As an anticancer agent it has drawn attention by showing promising therapeutic effects on multiple types of cancer both by itself and in combination with other compounds.  As an antiviral, it has been shown to act as an interferon inducer.

Emodin is soluble in DMSO and alcohol but is practically insoluble in water.

Mechanism of Action Emodin has been reported to have anticancer effects in multiple different types of cancer through different mechanisms. More research will be needed to elucidate the exact mechanism of action.
    Cancer Applications

Emodin can modulate the mammalian cell cycle in specific oncogene-overexpressing cells thus it has anti-cancer activity.   The molecular mechanisms of Emodin-mediated tumor inhibition have not been completely elucidated.

Emodin inhibited cell growth in several types of cancer cells and can regulate genes related to cell apotosis, oncogenesis, cell proliferation, cancer cell invasion and metastatis (Lin et al, 2013).

Based on in vitro literature, Emodin is a potent anticancer agent for digestive system cancers via regulation of multi-molecular targets involved in tumor growth, invasion, angiogenesis and metastasis (Lin et al, 2013).
