ApplicationFenbendazole is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic used to treat gastrointestinal and respiratory roundworms and tapeworms in livestock and other animals.
Mechanism of ActionFenbendazole is a benzimidazole that acts by binding to tubulin, an essential structural protein of microtubules. By blocking the microtubuless in worms the uptake of glucose is blocked which eventually depletes glycogen reserves. This disrupts the energy management system of the worms leading to paralysis and death.
SpectrumFenbendazole is commonly used world-wide as an anthelmintic for veterinary use to treat roundworms and tapeworms in livestock, cats, and dogs.
