    2-Oxazolidone

    $43.26 - $113.56

2-Oxazolidone is a heterocyclic organic compound containing nitrogen and oxygen in a 5-membered ring.  Oxazolidinones are a class of compounds that have 2-Oxazolidone in the structure.  They are used as antimicrobials.  Other examples of important oxazolidinone antibiotics include Linezolid, Tedizolid, Posizolid, Radezolid, Cycloserine, and Contezolid. In chemistry, they can be used as Evans auxiliaries, which are used for chiral synthesis.  It can be used as a precursor for the preparation of other compounds and commercially important intermediates such as N-vinyl-2-oxazolidone.

    2-Oxazolidone is soluble in water.

Mechanism of Action 2-Oxazolidone acts by inhibiting protein synthesis, targeting the binding of N-formylmethionyl-tRNA to the ribosome.
Spectrum Effective against Gram-positive bacteria including MRSA, penicillin-resistant streptococci, and vancomycin-resistant enterococci.
