Anisomycin is a sparingly soluble (2 mg/mL) protein synthesis inhibiting antibiotic produced by Streptomyces griseolus. Anisomycin targets eukaryotic cells and is not effective against bacteria (prokaryotes).
|Mechanism of Action||Anisomycin inhibits protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells by inhibiting peptidyl-transferase activity in the 60S subunit of the 80S ribosome.|
