Aranciamycin A is an anthracycline bearing a methyl-L-rhamnose sugar in the 2-O position. Aranciamycin A has antitumor and Gram positive antibiotic activity and is a potent inhibitor of Clostridium histolyticum collagenase, with an IC50 = 3.7 x 10-7M.
