Choramphenicol ReadyMade™Aqueous Solution is provided as a sterile-filtered solution of Chloramphenicol formulated in water at a concentration of 50 mg/ml. This aqueous formulation has been solubilized with starch and is safer than DMSO or ethanol. It has been filter-sterilized using a 0.22 μm filter.
Chloramphenicol is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antimicrobial that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. It is a synthetic antibiotic that was originally derived from Streptomyces venezuelae. It is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
