Emeguisin A was first isolated from the fungus Emericella unguis by Yamakazaki and coworkers from Hoshi University, Japan in 1988. Emeguisin A exhibits potent antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureusincludin methicillin-resistant strains, as well as strong antifungal activity against Cryptococcus neoformans, each with MIC values of 0.5 μg/mL.
