    Erythromycin B, EvoPure®

    R$1,182.72

Erythromycin B, EvoPure® is a highly purified form of erythromycin B, an active component of Erythromycin.  Other components include A, C, and D.  Erythromycins B has a similar MICs to A but is slightly less active. Erythromycin B lacks a hydroxyl group at C12 that Erythromycin A has, allowing it to retain antibacterial activity in acidic environments unlike Erythromycin A.

ApplicationErythromycin B, EvoPure® can be used as a reference standard or to study the individual properties of erythromycin B. Reference standards are well characterized, highly pure compounds that can be used to help identify and/or quantify impurities in pharmaceutical compounds and antimicrobials.
Mechanism of ActionMacrolide antibiotics inhibit bacterial growth by targeting the 50S ribosomal subunit preventing peptide bond formation and translocation during protein synthesis. Resistance to erythromycin is commonly attributed to mutations in 50S rRNA preventing erythromycin binding allowing the cell to synthesize proteins free of error.
