PEPP (Plant Extract for Plant Protection)

    ¥812.00

PEPP (Plant Extract for Plant Protection) is a natural plant protection agent developed by TOKU-E that contains plant extracts to combat bacterial and fungal pathogens. Natural plant extracts have been used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries since they generally have low toxicity to plant and mammalian cells. PEPP does not contain any antibiotics.

PEPP has activity against bacteria and fungi without inhibiting plant growth. It is a proprietary blend of an essential oil plant extract combined with a water-based plant extract. The water-based component will act on contact against bacteria and fungi while the essential oil will act as a surface protectant.

Extracts have been carefully balanced for maximal protection and non toxic formulation. Protection occurs with application and eventually, the plant extracts can be taken up by the plant as a nutrient source. An advantage of this formulation is to counteract the plants’ resistance to antibiotics that have been used for plant protection.

In order to arrive at the PEPP formulation, 189 different extracts from 63 different plant species were screened using 3 different extraction methods (water, steam, ethanol).

    Mechanism of Action

PEPP water-based component acts as an antibacterial and antifungal agent, while the essential oil component acts as a surface protectant.

    Spectrum

Effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and fungi.

Bacteria: Bacillus, Enterococcus faecallis, E. coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Mycobacterium, Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus.

Fungi: Aspergillus niger, A. flavus, Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. albedinis, Mauginiella scaettae.

    Plant Biology Applications

Usage notes: Shake well before use.

Working conc.: 20-100 µl liquid per L media, or 20-100 mg powder per L media.

    1-5 ml (1-5g ) for 50 ml media.

    5 ml bottle (or 5 g) is sufficient for 250 L media.

PEPP is autoclavable and can be added as part of the media before usage.
    PEPP can be used at < 64 - 6,000 mg/L.
