Kinetin ((6-furfurylaminopurine) is a cytokinin routinely used to stimulate cell division in plant tissue culture. Kinetin is soluble in methanol or DMSO.
|Plant Biology Applications||Kinetin is often used to direct cell differentiation of callus cells in tissue culture using an appropriate cytokinin:auxin ratio. Kinetin has shown to increase callus cell growth in rice when grown with sucrose and 2,4-D concentrations (Al-Kayri,1996).|
