    α-Apo-Oxytetracycline, EvoPure®

    S/.1,521.18

α-Apo-Oxytetracycline, EvoPure® (Oxytetracycline-related compound D) is an oxytetracycline metabolite and impurity found in commercial oxytetracycline. It is formed via acid hydrolysis of oxytetracycline. As an isomer of β-Apo-oxytetracycline, it forms readily in acidic and basic media. This highly pure metabolite can be used as a secondary reference standard during stability studies of oxytetracycline and can be used to study the degradation pathway and products of tetracyclines.

α-Apo-Oxytetracycline, EvoPure® is very slightly soluble in water.

     We also offer:

    • 4-Epi-oxytetracycline, EvoPure® (oxytetracycline-related compound A)(O008)
    • β-Apo-oxytetracycline, EvoPure® (oxytetracycline-related compound E)(O042)
Application α-Apo-oxytetracycline is commonly used as a secondary standard.
Microbiology Applications The fate of tetracyclines and their degradation products were studied under pH, chelation, and photodegradation. Tetracyclines photodecompose easily because they undergo direct photolysis and are converted to several products. Their potency to environmentally relevant sludge and soil bacteria is also a subject of investigation.
Mechanism of Action Oxytetracycline causes inhibition of protein synthesis. It binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit and prevents the amino-acyl tRNA from binding to the A site of the ribosome.
    Spectrum Broad-spectrum, including Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.
    Molecular Formula C22H22N2O8
