Aureothin, an unusual pyranone metabolite, has broad biological actions including antitumor, antimicrobial and insecticidal activities. More recently, aureothin has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of Helicobacter pylori.
Aureothin is soluble in ethanol, methanol, DMF and DMSO and has limited water solubility.
