Novobiocic Acid is a member of the novobiocin aminocoumarin antibiotic family. Novobiocic Acid is a key intermediate in the biosynthesis of novobiocin and an important acid degradation product. While novobiocic Acid exhibits little antibacterial activity, it is more potent than novobiocin as a potentiator of etoposide BP-16 activity by inhibiting efflux from tumor cells.
