Pyrazinecarboxamide, a nicotinamide analogue, is a precursor compound that inhibits Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It is an antitubercular agent. It is used in Mycobacterium detection kits.

The active moiety of pyrazinamide is Pyrazinoic Acid (POA). POA is thorugh to disrupt membrane energetics and inhbit membrane transport in M. tuberculosis. |
