    Sulfachloropyridazine

    $82.00 - $342.00

Sulfachloropyridazine is a broad-spectrum sulfonamide antibiotic that can be used for bacteria causing urinary tract infections. It is a competitive inhibitor of bacterial para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) which is required for bacterial folic acid synthesis. It is frequently used in veterinary research, and has been found to bolster the immune system in plants.

Mechanism of Action Sulfachloropyridazine inhibits the enzyme dihydropteroate synthase, thereby blocking dihydrofolic acid synthesis.
Spectrum broad-spectrum, effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Also effective for Mycoplasma.
    Microbiology Applications

Sulfachloropyridazine can be used to study metabolic pathways, reaction kinetics, and toxicity profiles.

    Plant Biology Applications

High-throughput screening of Arabidopsis plant suspensions were used to screen libraries of bioactive molecules and natural products for plant activators (agrochemicals that activate the plant immune system and protect crops from disease). Sulfachlorpyridazine was found to be a candidate that increased disease resistance, using Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato. (Noutoshi et al, 2012).

    Molecular Formula C10H9ClN4O2S
