    Roccellic Acid

    $269.09 - $942.28

Roccellic Acid is a secondary metabolite and methyldodecylsuccinic acid isolated from lichen Roccella spp. over 150 years ago, with the structure fully elucidated by Akermark in 1962. Roccellic Acid is active against the oral bacteria, Streptococcus gordonii and Porphyromonas gingivalis.  It has antibcterial and anticancer activities.

    Molecular Formula  C17H32O
Cancer Applications Roccellic Acid inhibits proliferation of cancer cells.  In a system with the compound at 100 µg/ml, it inhibited the proliferation of MDA-MB-231, MCF-7, and DLD-1 cancer cells by 65.3, 75.8, and 87.9%, respectively (Sweiden et al, 2017).
