    Teicoplanin A2-3

    $205.00 - $715.00

Teicoplanin A2-3 is a major analog of a family of lipoglycopeptides produced by Actinoplanes teichomyceticus. Teicoplanins possess potent broad-spectrum antibiotic activity against Gram-positive bacteria, including MRSA and E. faecalis.

Teicoplanin A2-3 is soluble in ethanol, methanol, DMF and DMSO.

    Molecular Formula C88H97Cl2N9O33
Spectrum Teicoplanins are bactericidal only for Gram-positive bacteria.  They have activity against MRSA and multi-resistant enterococci.
    Microbiology Applications

Teicoplanin is commonly used in clinical in vitro microbiological antimicrobial susceptibility tests (panels, discs, and MIC strips) against Gram-positive isolates.  Medical microbiologists use AST results to recommend antibiotic treatment options.  Representative MIC values include:

    • Clostridium difficile 0.125 µg/mL – 0.25 µg/mL
    • Staphylococcus aureus ≤ 0.12  µg/mL – 8 µg/mL
