Phenelfamycin E is the major analogue of the phenelfamycin complex produced by several species of Strepyomyces. The phenelfamycins are potent antibiotics with good activity against Gram positive bacteria, notably Clostridium difficile, however phenelfamycin E has received little attention in the literature.
Phenelfamycin E is soluble in ethanol, methanol, DMF or DMSO. Limited water solubility.
